Bill Clinton was President, the “Y2K” fear was starting to gain attention, John Elway had just led the Denver Broncos to their 2nd consecutive Super Bowl win, and Brittany Spears was at the top of the music charts.
Another event, one that gained a little less attention, was the launch of Affordable Closets.
Before creating this business, owner Micheal Harris had absolutely zero experience in the industry. He was working in accounting, but he recognized a need for an affordable custom-closet service. He saw that custom closet installation was only available for expensive houses and high-end clients, but people owning moderate houses needed this service as well.
In 1999, custom closet design and manufacturing was for high-end houses only. The goal for Affordable Closets was to provide a service that could be used by people who owned moderate homes but still wanted the luxury, convenience, and refinement of a custom closet.
When we first started, custom closets were not particularly popular among moderately-priced houses. The focus was more high end, but as we served the area we gained a reputation for affordability without sacrificing quality. People across Sarasota and the surrounding area now know that we can serve the needs of homeowners all across the area in all types of homes.
A lot has happened since 1999, and we have been proud to serve the Sarasota community ever since. We have seen the city grow to new heights, bringing a vibrant culture and exciting atmosphere to this town. We have enjoyed watching this area become a wonderful destination for both visitors and residents, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our area!
